2023 Engineering Project Organization Conference

Conference Information:

The overall theme for the conference this year is Engineering for Changing Systems. EPOC 2023 builds on the primary themes of the EPO society and the EPO journal as follows:

• Disaster resilience, humanitarian engineering projects, disaster management—research on engineering/management complexity where the context is not “business as usual”
• Digital transformation in engineering/construction—where and how can we identify or built expertise and talent to fill the need to move forward
• Engineering for inclusion and equity—research on social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in engineering
• Infrastructure development and the provision of basic services (e.g., water, sanitation)—research efforts that emphasize the development of civil and social infrastructure projects
• Project- and Program-Based enterprise—research on project or program-specific organizations at all levels of governance activities
• Inter- and intra-firm coordination—research on the interdependencies in project organizations and approaches for analyzing and improving partnerships and coordination
• International project organizations and enterprises—research encompassing global project organizations and enterprises including governance, operations, and collaboration

Conference registration is EUR 370 per person. At least one author should be registered by March 1, 2023 for inclusion in the conference program. You can register using the following link: https://www.intengineering.eu/epoc/

Extended abstracts are required of everyone who wants to present at EPOC 2023. Researchers also have the opportunity to submit a conference-length paper (optional). Details about submissions are below.

1. Extended Abstract. These are intended to be projects that are still in the data gathering or exploration stage. Extended abstracts should include the following: Research Problem Statement or Purpose, Brief Research Methodology and Approach, Key Findings, and Implications. Extended abstracts should be between 1,000-2,000 words.
2. Conference-Length Papers (Optional). These are intended to be traditional conference papers. Authors are expected to be faculty or doctoral students who are nearly ready to defend. Papers will be 3,000–5,000 words and authors are expected to make a presentation. 

Extended abstracts and conference papers will be made available online in the conference proceedings. Authors will retain the copyright, but the papers can still be cited as a conference proceedings paper.

Deadlines

• December 1st, 2022: Extended-abstracts due 
• January 10th, 2023: Authors are notified of acceptance of their extended abstract and invited to participate in the conference. Participants can start planning their visit and stay in Germany (e.g., Visas). 
• March 6th, 2023: Conference paper due (Optional)
• March 1st, 2023: Author registration deadline for inclusion in the conference program
• April 7th, 2023: Review comments sent to authors of conference papers (Optional) 
• May 5th, 2023: Final conference paper or extended abstract due
